The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day parade is an essential part of the Thanksgiving weekend celebrations. Hundreds of spectators gathered along Weber Street on a cool Monday morning to enjoy the parade, which commenced in downtown Kitchener at 9:30 a.m. Despite the initial 11°C temperature, the mix of sun and clouds provided a pleasant viewing experience for the attendees.
Various captivating scenes unfolded during the parade, including a pipe band performance, festhalls ambassadors sharing a float, dancers showcasing their talents, a giant inflatable of Onkle Hans seated on a keg, musicians in traditional attire playing instruments, and Tante Frieda, one of the K-W Oktoberfest mascots, engaging with the crowd from a float.
Prior to the parade, the Onkel Hans Food Drive was actively collecting non-perishable food items and financial contributions. The community’s participation and support added a charitable dimension to the festive event.
