Montreal native Felix Auger-Aliassime secured another championship by claiming victory at the European Open in Belgium over the weekend. The 25-year-old Canadian defeated Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic in a closely contested match, triumphing with a scoreline of 7-6(2), 6-7(7), 6-2 at the ATP 250 tournament held on the hard courts of Brussels.

Auger-Aliassime, seeded as the No. 2 player in the competition, showcased his prowess by serving 17 aces during the intense two-hour and 34-minute battle, while also impressively winning 79% of his first-serve points. Despite losing the second set, he maintained command throughout the match, converting two out of six break-point opportunities and denying Lehecka any chances to break his serve.

Reflecting on the match, Auger-Aliassime commented, “It’s the final, so we put everything on the line. I feel like we were both extremely focused from the beginning. It was a high level for two sets, then you don’t know how things can go. But I’m obviously glad.”

This victory marks Auger-Aliassime’s eighth career title and his third triumph of the year, following his successful starts in 2025 with wins in Montpellier, France, and Adelaide, Australia in January. He now shares the record for the most singles titles among Canadian men in the Open era with Milos Raonic. Currently ranked 13th globally, Auger-Aliassime previously held the 6th position in November 2022.
