Elizabeth Lemley, representing the United States, clinched the gold medal in the women’s moguls event at the Milano-Cortina Winter Games on Wednesday, following a dramatic conclusion to the final round.

In a surprising turn of events during the last run of the day, the reigning Olympic champion, Jakara Anthony from Australia, lost balance on her descent down the course, resulting in a final position at the bottom of the eight-contestant field.

The silver medal went to American athlete Jaelin Kauf with a score of 80.77, while Perrine Laffont from France secured the bronze medal with a score of 78.00.

Canada’s Maïa Schwinghammer from Saskatoon achieved a score of 77.61, landing her in fifth place.

Unfortunately, Canadian participants Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert from Sainte-Adèle, Quebec, Jessica Linton from Vancouver, and Ashley Koehler from Lac-Beauport, Quebec, did not progress to the medal round.
