Defending his title, John Korir set a new Boston Marathon course record on Monday, clocking in at two hours, one minute, and 42 seconds. The 29-year-old Kenyan expressed his surprise and happiness upon learning about his record-breaking run. He credited the tailwind for his exceptional performance, ranking it as the fifth-fastest marathon time in history.

Rory Linkletter, aiming to surpass the Canadian men’s record, achieved a personal best in the race. Despite facing challenges around the 27 km mark, he completed the marathon in two hours, six minutes, and four seconds, improving upon his previous Chicago performance.

Reflecting on his race, Linkletter acknowledged the physical toll of the competition and the adjustments he had to make during the event. This year’s performance marked a significant improvement from his past experiences, showcasing his growth and determination.

Looking ahead, Linkletter is set to headline the upcoming Ottawa Marathon on May 24, building on his recent achievements and aiming for further success in his running career.

In a thrilling race, Korir pulled away from the competition before Heartbreak Hill, securing a substantial lead and ultimately breaking the course record. His impressive victory was marked by a jubilant display as he crossed the finish line, surpassing the previous record by a significant margin.

Sharon Lokedi continued her winning streak by claiming victory in the women’s race, finishing in two hours, 18 minutes, and 51 seconds. The Kenyan runner displayed determination and focus throughout the event, maintaining a strong lead and crossing the finish line with a smile.

The Boston Marathon also saw notable performances from other elite Canadian runners, including Cassandra De Winter, Teagan Robertson, Polly Cunes, and Leanne Klassen, who showcased their talent and dedication in the competitive field.
