Alannah Keyser, aged 21, has been ousted as the second participant from the ongoing season of Love Island USA after a video resurfaced online showing her using a racial slur. Keyser, a college student from Miami, made a dramatic entrance during the Casa Amor episodes of the reality dating series on Peacock before her sudden departure.
Shortly after Keyser’s arrival on June 21 at the villa, a Snapchat video emerged showing her singing along to a song containing the N-word, believed to be rapper Roddy Ricch’s 2019 track “The Box.”
In a typical fashion for the show, Love Island USA narrator Iain Stirling announced her exit during Thursday night’s episode, simply stating, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.”
Following her initial appearance on Season 8 and her apparent connection with contestant Zach Georgiou, fans observed a decrease in Keyser’s screen time. Some Reddit users pointed out her minimal presence in Tuesday’s episode.
Keyser’s situation is not an isolated incident for this season or the franchise as a whole. Prior to the TV premiere, Vasana Montgomery was removed from the Season 8 cast after old clips of her using a racial slur came to light.
In a separate development, last year, two Season 7 cast members were also pulled from the show due to similar incidents. Yulissa Escobar was ousted following the discovery of past recordings where she used racial slurs, while Cierra Ortega faced a similar fate after online videos surfaced.
CBC News attempted to contact Keyser for a response but received no reply prior to publication.
