The search mission for a plane that disappeared during its journey from Canada’s East Coast to Greenland has entered its second day. Naviair, a state-owned Danish air traffic service company, was alerted around 4 p.m. local time on Saturday about a missing single-engine aircraft. It has been confirmed that the missing plane is registered under an American company and was en route from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, with one person onboard.
The search operation, which restarted on Sunday via boat, has faced challenges with the aerial search due to low-hanging clouds. Search activities were halted on Saturday night because of poor visibility and adverse weather. Teams are focusing their efforts on the Sermitsiaq mountain area, located 15 kilometers northeast of Nuuk, the capital of Greenland.
Happy Valley-Goose Bay, situated in central Labrador, is approximately 850 kilometers northwest of St. John’s, with the Labrador Sea separating Labrador from Greenland.
