Renowned author Freida McFadden has surprised her fans by revealing that her true identity is Sara Cohen. In a recent interview with USA Today, Cohen expressed her desire to end the mystery surrounding her persona and embrace her real self. Despite her success as a writer of gripping psychological thrillers like “The Housemaid” and “Never Lie,” Cohen has always maintained a veil of anonymity, often disguising herself with a wig and glasses during public appearances.

When asked about her signature wig, Cohen explained that it was a simple solution to her hairstyling challenges. Beyond her literary endeavors, Cohen works as a doctor specializing in brain disorders. She had kept her dual identity a secret to avoid any potential conflicts with her medical career, but eventually decided to disclose her real name after scaling back her clinical responsibilities in 2023.

While Cohen intends to continue writing under her pen name, she reassures her readers that her storytelling has always been authentic and transparent. Since her debut in 2013, Cohen has garnered immense success, particularly with the adaptation of “The Housemaid” into a blockbuster film featuring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. With another movie based on her work, “The Housemaid’s Secret,” slated for release in 2027, Cohen’s literary legacy shows no signs of slowing down.
