The mastermind behind the critically acclaimed animated movie “KPop Demon Hunters” has been honored with the key to Toronto, her hometown. Maggie Kang, a Korean-Canadian filmmaker, was unexpectedly presented with the key by Mayor Olivia Chow during a panel discussion on the film’s success at the Departure Festival.
Mayor Chow commended Kang’s achievements, highlighting how her narrative will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations. Kang, accompanied by Cindy Gouveia, the president of Sheridan College, her alma mater, graciously accepted the key without making a speech but participated in photo sessions.

During the panel, Kang hinted at her upcoming project, expressing her determination to match the level of dedication she had for the first film and create a cinematic experience that resonates with her vision.
