“The Lost Boys” and “Schmigadoon!” emerged as frontrunners with 12 Tony Award nominations each, while 96-year-old June Squibb made history as the oldest Tony-nominated actor, and Danny Burstein became the most-nominated male actor in Tony history.

Notably, “The Lost Boys,” a reimagining of the 1987 teen vampire movie, and “Schmigadoon!,” a playful take on Broadway musicals from an Apple TV series, led the pack, followed by a revival of “Ragtime” with 11 nominations and “Death of a Salesman” starring Nathan Lane with nine nods.

In total, 24 shows received nominations across the 26 Tony categories, including innovative productions like “Cats: The Jellicle Ball” and a revival of “Chess.”

The coveted title for best new musical will be contested among “The Lost Boys,” “Schmigadoon!,” “Titanique,” a comedic twist on the movie “Titanic,” and “Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York,” a romantic comedy set in New York City.

Turning to best new play nominees, the list includes “Giant” led by John Lithgow, “Liberation,” “The Balusters,” and “Little Bear Ridge Road.”

June Squibb, nominated for “Marjorie Prime,” sets a new record as the oldest Tony-nominated actor. Meanwhile, Danny Burstein secures his place as the most-nominated male actor in Tony history with nine nods.

The best play revival category features acclaimed works such as “Every Brilliant Thing,” “Death of a Salesman,” “Oedipus,” “Becky Shaw,” and “Fallen Angels.”

In the acting categories, notable nominees include Daniel Radcliffe for “Every Brilliant Thing,” and esteemed actors like Rose Byrne and Kelli O’Hara.

The Tony Awards ceremony, set for June 7 at Radio City Music Hall, will be hosted by Pink and broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+. Last year’s show garnered a significant viewership increase, drawing 4.85 million viewers to CBS.
