Get prepared for another series of eliminations as the popular reality show “Big Brother Canada” is set to return for its third season, airing on CTV and Crave. Production for the fan-favorite competition will kick off in Montreal next spring, with casting information to follow at a later time, as announced by Bell Media during its recent upfront presentations in Toronto.

Additionally, the network confirmed the upcoming airing of the enduring U.S. version of “Big Brother” starting in the summer of 2027. The reality series, inspired by George Orwell’s novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four,” brings together a group of contestants known as houseguests in a specially designed house where they are constantly monitored through audio and video, isolated from the outside world, and compete for a cash prize.

Participants navigate through social conflicts and changing relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, striving to avoid eviction from the house and elimination from the game. Hosting the Canadian revival is lifestyle host and entertainment journalist Andrea Bain, known for her current role as co-host of CTV’s daytime show “The Social” and previous appearances on CBC’s “The Goods.”

Bain expressed her excitement on social media, stating, “If you’ve watched me over the years, you know how much I love reality television, big personalities, unexpected twists and unforgettable moments. So to now be part of a franchise that has delivered all of that for decades is truly a dream come true.”

Bell Media’s agreement includes the previous 12 seasons of the show, available for binge-watching on Crave, along with the French-language version “Big Brother Célébrités.” Since its inception in the late 1990s in the Netherlands, numerous adaptations of “Big Brother” have been successful in various countries worldwide, from Brazil to the U.K., India to Australia.

The Canadian version initially premiered on Slice, a digital platform, in 2013 by Shaw Media and Corus Entertainment before transitioning to the main network Global two years later. The show was hosted by broadcaster and entertainment journalist Arisa Cox, who was also part of the early 2000s reality series “U8TV: The Lofters.” The series faced a hiatus after its fifth season but was reinstated for a sixth season due to popular demand. However, another wave of protests ensued when Global announced its cancellation in June 2024.

Justin Stockman, Bell Media’s vice president of global content, expressed enthusiasm in a statement, saying, “We look forward to providing Canadian audiences with more of the engaging and unforgettable competitive social gameplay they enjoy.”
