Durham authorities have arrested one individual and are on the lookout for another, deemed to be armed and dangerous, in relation to the ninth homicide in the region. The Durham Regional Police Service responded to a call at Park Road S. and John Street in Oshawa at approximately 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement discovered a man with multiple stab wounds on the road. Identified as Jeremy Russel, aged 44, he was taken to a trauma center in Toronto where he succumbed to his injuries. Nicholas Robbins, 33, from Oshawa, was apprehended by the police and charged with second-degree murder. Meanwhile, the search continues for the second suspect, Michael Waterman, aged 44, who is considered armed and hazardous. Durham authorities disclosed that Russel, Robbins, and Waterman were acquainted with each other. The Peterborough Police Service is also seeking Waterman in connection with a homicide on December 6. Waterman is a suspect in second-degree murder cases in both Durham Region and Peterborough. Officials urge individuals with any pertinent information to come forward, warning that harboring Waterman from the authorities is a punishable offense under the Criminal Code of Canada. Informants may be eligible for a monetary reward, as stated by Durham police.
