Stellantis has announced a recall of over 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks globally due to fire risks. The company advised owners to park these vehicles away from buildings or other cars until the necessary repairs are completed.
The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator trucks from model years 2021-2025. It is related to an issue with the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring, which could lead to overheating of combustible materials in certain situations, potentially resulting in a fire.
Approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the United States, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other international markets are included in the recall, according to Stellantis.
The company stated that the recall will entail inspections and potential repairs or replacements of the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump. Stellantis is striving to expedite the availability of the remedy and expects to have a fix in place by July at the latest.
Although one potential injury linked to the issue has been reported, there have been no accidents or fatalities associated with it.
